Em 27 de março de 2014, os Pet
Shop Boys anunciaram o lançamento do single “Fluorescent”, em uma edição limitada em
vinil para comemorar o “Record Store Day 2014”. O single traz
duas novas versões de “Fluorescent” com letras adicionais.

Em “Fluorescent” Neil e Chris desconstroem
o estilo de vida dos “bacanas”, “socialites”
(ou "patricinhas" e "mauricinhos" para os mais
jovens) e até aqueles que pagam um preço pela fama visando aparecer nas revistas
sociais e que não são oriundos de famílias tradicionais ou celebridades, mas
que ambicionam uma vida fluorescente (cheia de luz).
“Fluorescent” no álbum “Electric” lembra um estilo bem aproximo do “Visage – Fade to Grey”. A canção foi tocada poucas vezes na turnê "Electric Tour". As novas versões são apenas segredos e esperamos ouvir esse novo single, que será lançado apenas na Inglaterra pelo selo da própria dupla, o X2.
