Os
Pet shop boys em “Brick England” fazem um culto poético a um símbolo
tradicional da Inglaterra, que são os tijolos vermelhos. Os "tijolos Inglaterra" hoje
são ornamentais e servem para decorar fachadas de prédios, mas no período da
Revolução Industrial dominaram a paisagem inglesa no auge da industrialização, que transformou a Inglaterra no centro do mundo. Era o princípio do modo de
produção capitalista e a transformação do homem em máquina; o crescimento urbano
vertiginoso e o enriquecimento da burguesia, associado às péssimas condições de
vida e de trabalho. Nesse cenário, hoje em transformação, aparece a imagem urbana totalmente envolvida
nos tijolos vermelhos.

e Chris tiveram apoio Dickensiano para escrever a canção e se inspiraram no
romance chamado “Hard Times”, de Charles Dickens. De modo literário, Dickens
denunciou na sua obra, os difíceis tempos passados na Inglaterra na
Era industrial e talvez a mesma coisa os Pet Shop Boys quiseram fazer em “Brick England”.
“Brick
England” é uma colaboração com Jean-Michel Jarre aclamado produtor musical, que
lança sua obra titulada Electronica Vol.2: The Heart Of Noise, em 06 de
maio. Além de vários outros artista o álbum tem a participação de Edward
Snowden, o analista de sistemas da CIA e NSA que detalhou como funcionava o
sistema de vigilância, comunicação e tráfego de informação global, executado por
programas de computador.
Brick England é um grande hits, uma ótima faixa, que ficou de fora de “Super”.
